We will spend 90 minutes together. That is the time required to fully understand your complaints and health concerns, so as to then render a complete working diagnosis and develop a treatment plan that will give you the outcome that you want. This examination and <a href=\"https:\/\/gaitdoctor.co.nz\/first-visit-experience\/gait-analysis\/\">gait analysis<\/a> <a href=\"https:\/\/gaitdoctor.co.nz\/why-custom-orthotics\/gait-scan-technology\/\">scan<\/a> are pain free, and very easy to do. All you have to do is stand, walk and lie on the examination table for these examinations. As such, the intake paperwork is very thorough.  So, please do take the 15-20 min time that it will take to complete the forms and read the pre-visit documents that are provided to you.  Thank you.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-check-circle\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\"><strong>STEP 2: CLINICAL EXAM + BIOMECHANCIAL ASSESSMENT + GAIT ANALYSIS<\/strong>     The CLINICAL EXAM involves observing posture, conducting various orthopedic, biomechanical and functional testing to identify the underlying cause of joint and muscle weaknesses or imbalance.     The GAIT ANALYSIS is done with simple observation of the gait plus the use of the GaitScan\u00ae pressure plate system to analyze the dynamic movement of the feet during the walking gait cycle.  Before your GaitScan, the practitioner will ask you some <a href=\"https:\/\/gaitdoctor.co.nz\/orthotics-questions-answers\/\">questions<\/a> about your complaints, observe your <a href=\"https:\/\/gaitdoctor.co.nz\/orthotic-friendly-footwear\/\">footwear<\/a> and ask about other related issues.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-check-circle\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\"><strong>STEP 3: REPORTING THE RESULTS TO YOU \u2013 AT THE FIRST VISIT \u2013 <\/strong>results from this examination is reported to you on the day as the results are available immediately.  The findings from the clinical examination and gait analysis inform the diagnoses and the recommendations for the way forward.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<li class=\"elementor-icon-list-item\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-icon\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<i class=\"fa fa-check-circle\" aria-hidden=\"true\"><\/i>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<span class=\"elementor-icon-list-text\"><strong>STEP 4: MAKING AN INFORMED DECISION ABOUT THE WAY FORWARD <\/strong>- By the end of this visit it will be obvious to both you and I whether or not you are a candidate for <a href=\"https:\/\/gaitdoctor.co.nz\/\">custom orthotics<\/a> to be included in your overall treatment plan.     If your faulty joint biomechanics are not the underlying cause of your condition, I will make the appropriate referral to the healthcare provider who can help you with further examination and treatment.     If you are a candidate for Functional Orthtoic Therapy (FOT), I will recommend the type(s) of orthotics that would be best for you.  Now, you may want to know a bit more about custom orthotics.<\/span>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/li>\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/ul>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t<\/section>\n\t\t\t\t<section class=\"elementor-section elementor-top-section elementor-element elementor-element-c0fd8c3 elementor-section-boxed elementor-section-height-default elementor-section-height-default\" data-id=\"c0fd8c3\" data-element_type=\"section\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-container elementor-column-gap-default\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-column elementor-col-100 elementor-top-column elementor-element elementor-element-8917e7a\" data-id=\"8917e7a\" data-element_type=\"column\">\n\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-wrap elementor-element-populated\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-fa87616 elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"fa87616\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<h2 style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #323232;\"><b>WHAT ARE FOOT ORTHOTICS?<\/b><\/span><\/h2>\n<p style=\"text-align: center;\"><span style=\"color: #323232;\">Foot orthotics are orthopedic devices that fit into your shoes to help correct faulty mechanics within the foot during standing walking and running. If the foot is moving incorrectly, this puts stress in the joints and muscles of the foot as well as up through the other weight-bearing joints of the body such as the knees, hips, pelvis and spine. Supporting and balancing the foot with dynamic, custom, functional foot orthotics is part of an overall treatment plan designed to address recurring injuries, muscle\/joint imbalance, and\/or chronic conditions that are unlikely to respond to standard treatment protocols. So, if other treatments, exercise, injections, even surgery has not resolved your suffering, then I may be able to help enhance your healing process. There are orthotics for casual wear, dress wear, various work environments, most sports, and even for kids. The best orthotic for you is the one you will wear most of the time, which means that it must fit in the shoes you wear most of the time. For most men and some women, one pair will be sufficient, and will simply be transferred from shoe to shoe. In some cases, you will want more than one pair to be able to have orthotics under your feet most of the time. For many women, and some men, the dress leather shoes that are worn for work fit very tightly against the foot and therefore require a \u2018Dressflex or Fashionflex\u2019 orthotic. However, this would not be sufficient for sport or environments where you were on your feet for long periods of time. So, there are some considerations when choosing which orthotics will work best for you. The practitioner will discuss these things with you before your decide what you want to do. If you decide to purchase custom orthotic devices, the details of your clinical examination and GaitScan data are sent to the laboratory in Canada. They are then manufactured to your custom specification for your needs, and are then posted back to us. This is a 30 min visit that involves fitting the orthotics to your footwear and assessing how they function in the footwear. Written, detailed instructions are provided regarding how to wear the orthotics during the \u201cadaptation period\u201d of about 2 weeks. There is also advice regarding any additional treatment that may be required for the best outcome.
